virginia, if the republicans, if they win back the senate, one of the places to do it is west virginia where a democratic seat held for over 50 years by the late senator byrd, there's a big battle there right now. the democratic governor manchin is a special candidate. the republican nominee raci and new ads on both sides nasty there in west virginia. we'll keep our eyes on that contest. again, if the republicans, if they win back control of the senate, one of the places to do it may be west virginia. talk about a rock star from new jersey. not springsteen or bon jovi. saw him last year in concert. very good. chris christie. the republican governor of the state and he's really turning into a republican rock star. he's been the man in demand on the campaign trail this year for republicans just like clinton for the democrats in a way. and we're learning from republican sources that christie's right here in washington today to kind of give a pep talk to house republicans just before they close it out and head back on the campaign trail. remember last year, christie pulled a big upset in t

the virginia visitor's center and nutley street to the beltway. delays on braddock eastbound toward the beltway, also on 50 delays from fairfax circle to the beltway. a crash on 15 and that's tieing up the right side of the road. no problems in montgomery county. slow from the 410 out of riverdale into the northeast. that's a check of your fox 5 on- time traffic. >>> our top story this morning, a deadly crash in district heights overnight involving an suv and ambulance. two people were killed. two medics are being treated. stacy cohan has the details. >> reporter: this happened around midnight, this collision between an ambulance and the suv. they do have the suburban involved in the crash up on a flatbed tow truck and they remove it and reopen this roadway. to learn more about what happened, all of the fire investigators had to do was take a look at the dashboard camera in the ambulance and they were able to watch the accident happen. >> in the distance on the dash cam you can see a set of headlights approaching that appears to be in the same lane of travel but coming in the opposite direction

national committee and former governor of virginia. good to have you with us this morning. >> good to be back, thanks. >> one of the things i wanted to draw your attention was the cnn opinion research poll that says more people think that the country would be better off if congress was run by the republicans than the democrats. is there an enthusiasm gap out there? is there some question about whether or not democrats have the country on the right track? >> kiran, we definitely over the summer we're seeing that enthusiasm gap in a lot of polls. but we're seeing it dramatically close. so i think the cnn poll has a gap at about, you know, single digits, eight or nine points. we were seeing polls that showed it at 30 points over the summer. we're also seeing other polls where in the generic congressional ballot the republicans had a ten-point edge a month ago, and now it's essentially a dead heat among likely voters and very close among -- dead heat among registered and very close among likely voters. >> about 11 points, but go ahead. >> and we think we've got good momentum now. we're
